this hotel was lovely place for exploring waterford, liked it and property’s outstandingly accommodating staff from the same receptionist. the location turned out to be exceptionally nice and absolutely perfect, so close to ireland and the rest of the world as well as the river from waterford city.

The location offered was unbeatable, really close to Zacs restaurant, a converted large "manor house," and the historic areas. the room we booked was airy and a lovely size with much better amenities than expected.

There was absolutely nothing I liked about my stay.
To be honest we had a terrible stay at this hotel. We were firstly asked what rate we got the rooms for and then put in the rooms away down in the basement with very little light and no heating. 3 of us had two rooms and where freezing. The walls were filthy in my room. Dinner was nice but the dining room is also a bar and there were a group of at least 20 ill mannered really drunk people screaming and trying to sing (appalling drunk screaming voices) The staff did nothing about it. The hotel is on the river but it really is a stop over as there is nothing to do in the hotel but go to the bar. The rooms are fading, dull and dark. Not enough towels or shower products available. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. AWFUL!!!

we had a pleasant stay at athenaeum house. the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. we were originally given a ground floor room with no view, but they quickly changed it when we requested a different room. the upgrade to a top floor suite was worth it. the afternoon tea was delightful and the breakfast options were good. we also appreciated the ease of parking and the helpful recommendations from michelle, who served us breakfast.
A great location and a positive experience.

The hotel staff was amazing - especially Noel Bolina. They made sure we were completely satisfied. The hotel was spotless and the food and bar atmosphere were amazing. The breakfast set-up was very good and the food was terrific. The hotel was off the beaten path, but was very convieniently located to the city of Waterford. The city lights were visible from the bar and restaraunt area and created a beautifully relaxing atmosphere each evening. This is a GREAT place to stay and was very reasonably priced.
